HTC HD Mini compared with HTC HD2 in pictures and video

HTC introduced its latest Windows Mobile 6.5 device today at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The HTC HD Mini is based on its big brother the HTC HD2. HTC has packed the same interface into the HD Mini in a more compact form. The HTC HD Mini includes a capacitive touch screen, 512MB ROM, 384MB RAM, 3.2" HVGA display, 5MP camera and the usual support of 3G and GPS. The phone will be powered by Windows Mobile 6.5 and HTC Sense.

The differences between the HTC HD Mini and the HD2 are minimal but it's clear that the device suffers from some performance issues due to the 600mhz processor. We had a quick hands on this afternoon and most of the UI remains the same in a compact form. We tried out various parts of the HTC Sense UI and Windows Mobile 6.5 to find differences and noticed some lag issues in the contacts part of the Sense UI. The rest of the Sense UI and Windows Mobile was fluid and speedy.

HTC has tweaked the lock screen on the Mini HD so that your latest communications show in a bar at the bottom. You simply drag down towards the bottom of the screen to unlock the device instead of sliding across like the HD2. Other changes are minimal and the interface largely remains the same apart from being a little more compact in places. Check out the gallery and video below.
