Earlier this month, Microsoft updated its Yammer mobile apps for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Windows 8 platforms, each of which received a number of new features. Today, Microsoft released an all new app that offers Yammer users a faster way to message each other.
The app is called Yammer Now and it's currently available for download for iOS devices only. Microsoft says:
With Yammer Now, you can easily initiate and respond to Yammer conversations anytime, anywhere. And there’s no need to exchange phone numbers or email addresses, all you need is login with your work email.
Yammer Now lets users see which of their co-workers are online to send them instant messages. It also has real-time alerts for new messages and support for group messaging. Photos can be shared with other employees via the app and users can "like" a message that are sent by others.
So what's the difference between the regular Yammer app and the new Yammer Now? Microsoft says that Yammer Now is designed to be used to send messages to other quickly, while the regular Yammer app has access to other features on the social network such as Inbox and Home Feed. So far, there's no word when or if Yammer Now will be released on other platforms.
