A few weeks ago, Microsoft started rolling out version 4.10 of its Launcher for Android to beta testers. Initially, the company made one single new feature available, but a couple more would be added one week later.
It's been a while since that happened, but today, Microsoft Launcher 4.10 is finally rolling out to the general public with new family safety features, visual search, and integration with the Microsoft Rewards program. Here's the full changelog from the Google Play Store:
- Stay up to date on your kids' whereabouts and their app activities with the family card in the feed
- Search the web with a picture, snap a new pic from the search bar to visually search (US only)
- Earn Microsoft Rewards points for using Bing Search (US only)
- Wallpaper UX improvements
As mentioned in the beta releases, child tracking requires Android 4.4 or higher on the parent device and 5.0 or higher on the child's device. Users will have to set up a Microsoft Family as well and have the respective accounts linked to Microsoft Launcher.
While Microsoft released an update to beta testers alongside the previous stable release, that doesn't seem to be the case this time around, but the company is known to be working on the Timeline feature for the Launcher, as well as integration with Microsoft To-Do to replace the current Wunderlist linking, features which might show up in the next few beta releases.
