As we get closer to the start of the 2023 holiday shopping season, Microsoft wants to help boost sales of its affordable Xbox Series S console with a bundle that combines it with a three-month subscription to its Xbox Games Pass Ultimate subscription service.
The Xbox Wire site has announced this new deal, which Microsoft calls the Xbox Starter Bundle. The $299.99 bundle will have the original white Xbox Series S, with 512GB of storage and a standard Xbox controller, with a code for three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which normally would cost $50.97.
The new retail console bundle will allow owners to access hundreds of games on Xbox Game Pass, along with all the games included with EA Play, support for online multiplayer, and support for both PC Game Pass titles and cloud gaming for smart TVs, monitors, and mobile devices.
The new Xbox Series S Starter Bundle will officially go on sale on October 31 at retailers, but you can pre-order it from Microsoft now.
This is not the first time Microsoft has offered a "starter bundle" deal for one of its consoles. In 2018, it announced a similar bundle for the white Xbox One S that also included a three-month subscription to the now-shut-down Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass.
This new Xbox Series S bundle comes just a day after Sony announced new and slimmer models of its PlayStation 5 consoles. So far, Microsoft has not announced plans for any slimmer Xbox Series X or S products. It did launch a new Xbox Series S console with a carbon black color and a bigger 1TB hard drive earlier this year for the price of $349.99.
