Pinterest announced today the launch of a new feature called Today, designed to provide you with timely ideas and trending topics. These pieces of information will be displayed on the Today tab at the top of your home feed.
The new tab will offer daily recommendations and trending Pins featuring popular topics such as baking ideas for kids, self-care tips, movies for the family, and comfort food recipes. Initially, it will display topics curated by Pinterest team before it will show ideas from guest editors in the future. In the next few weeks, the tab will also feature information from the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control around topics on proper hygiene, an especially timely topic during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The new feature is rolling out today in the U.S. and UK, available on Android and iOS devices. Pinterest also plans to bring the tab to more countries in the future and notes that it won't affect personalized recommendations on your home feed.
In addition, the service also unveiled "compassionate search" on web to offer ideas from emotional health professionals in order to help you feel better. It's also available in the U.S. and UK from today.
Finally, Pinterest is banning ads that claim to offer a cure for COVID-19, with a new capability to let you report misinformation around the pandemic. There's a banner across the Pinterest site as well, which brings you to WHO's facts related to the virus.
