The German state of Hesse wanted to replace Microsoft's Teams video conferencing software with one made by a local vendor. However, the court found the alternative solution to be rather inadequate.

Schleswig-Holstein, a German state, has announced that it's moving away from Microsoft Office to LibreOffice. This will be followed by a bigger move from Windows to open-source Linux by end of 2026.
Windows 7 is no longer supported as of earlier this month, but organizations can still buy extended support. As it turns out, the German government will be paying at least €800,000 this year.
