Snap, the parent company of the social network Snapchat, has just announced plans to lay off about 10 percent of its workforce, or 529 of its employees, in the latest such job cuts in the tech space.

Snap has announced that it now has more than four million subscribers. The service launched a year ago today. Despite the introduction of Snapchat+, it saw lower revenues in the first quarter.

Snapchat flaunted its latest achievement along with new features and big changes at SPS 2023. The app now has over 3 million paid subscribers of its premium tier Snapchat+ which launched in June 2022.

One of the main features of Snapchat is Snap Streaks, which requires users to send daily snaps to friends within a 24-hour window. If a streak broke it used to be difficult to get it back, until now.

The $3.99 a month Snapchat+ service, which adds features like pinning your best friend, being able to see how many friends have rewatched your Story, and more, is slowly gaining more subscribers.

Snapchat has released new features and lock screen widgets for the latest iOS 16. These include Chat Shortcuts, Question Stickers, and more. Snapchat Web is also coming for all users.

Snap has laid off 20% of its staff and cut original shows. It is also switching its focus to augmented reality and growing its community in an attempt to grow more revenue in the long term.

Snapchat+ launched in June 2022 as a subscription for $3.99/month. Now, it has hit around 1 million subscribers who are getting exclusive features like post-view emojis, customizable icons, and more.

Social media platform, Snapchat, is now accessible through your laptops via Snapchat Web. The feature is available to users in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia, among others.

Snapchat Plus is the company's first-ever attempt at monetization outside advertisements. The service will cost $3.99 per month and offer some exclusive features, but subscribers will still get ads.
