A new patent filed by Microsoft hints that the company might be planning to re-imagine the USB-C connector with magnetic latching mechanisms, bringing the benefits of both worlds to future devices.

Microsoft announced a new Surface Pro today, and while it still doesn't include USB Type-C, the company will be introducing a dongle later this year that adds the port to Surface devices.
