Twitter just got a little more interesting for webmasters wishing they could embed tweets that could be interacted with on the fly.
The update allows a timeline of tweets by a user to be added into the page using a single line of HTML. It works as it would if you were on the Twitter website; users will be able to follow others, retweet, reply, favourite tweets or expand tweets to see photos and media.
Below is an example of our own @NeowinFeed.
Of the change, Twitter said in a statement: "Whether it's an author's Tweets alongside their blog, a hashtag about an event...Tweets add a live, real time dimension to articles, news reports, and the web at large".
The update would make it easier for websites that are launching campaigns where Twitter interaction is required for example, and as pointed out by Twitter:
"These new tools are built specifically for the web: they load fast, scale with your traffic as your audience grows, update in real time, and work great in modern, legacy, and mobile browsers".
Websites can embed timelines now (details here) by using the new timeline settings page on twitter.com, simply create a widget and embed it.
