If you want to show off your wealth through your smartphone, Vertu is a brand that can certainly do the job. The luxury smartphone maker has joined the foldable bandwagon, unveiling its first-ever foldable phone priced from $6,880, with a strong focus on AI agents for executives.

Vertu phones are not designed for everyone, and the company’s first foldable, the ALPHAFOLD, is no exception. The device features a 6.53-inch outer display and an 8.05-inch inner screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor alongside a 6,500mAh battery. The phone also supports 65W fast charging.

The rear panel houses a triple-camera setup, including a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 5-megapixel telephoto lens. Vertu claims the ALPHAFOLD’s hinge is made of metal, titanium, and carbon fiber, allowing it to withstand up to 650,000 folds.

Like many companies today, Vertu also does not want to fall behind in the AI race. The ALPHAFOLD launches with an enterprise-focused AI assistant called Hermes, which is capable of handling tasks and even connecting to enterprise systems. The Hermes agent can also integrate with third-party apps and schedule events for owners.

However, the ALPHAFOLD’s selling point is the premium material used on the back panel. Vertu says some models are made from hand-selected American alligator belly leather, while customers can also order versions featuring gold and diamonds. The cheapest model, the Calfskin Edition, costs $6,880, while the Italian Alligator version is priced at $8,800. The most expensive variants, featuring gold or diamonds, can cost up to $46,800.

Vertu is far from a mainstream smartphone brand and caters to a very specific customer base. With the ALPHAFOLD, the luxury company is trying to position the device as a foldable that blends premium craftsmanship with flagship performance for executives who want to save time through a dedicated AI agent while also showing off their wealth.
