Earlier last month, Meta brought multi-account support to WhatsApp on all platforms. It was one of the only remaining popular apps that did not support adding multiple accounts. Now WhatsApp is working on releasing a new way to communicate with your contacts through voice messages, among other features.
As you can see from the screenshot both from iOS and Android, this feature is in the works and inching closer to public release. The UI is similar to the recipient of the voice message. They are greeted with a notification chip in the message stream about a voice message received set to view once. In this mode, the voice message is protected for certain actions. The recipient cannot export, forward, save, or record the voice message. This is similar to DRM protection on contents. After the recording is heard once, it will not be accessible anymore. This new layer of ensured privacy can be useful in many situations and may give users additional peace of mind.
To send a view once voice message, you can take the following steps:
First, open the chat where you'd like to send the voice message. Press and hold the voice recording button as seen in the screenshot above.
Swipe up while holding the voice recording button to lock it in recording mode.
You will see the round green icon with "1" written in white, above the send button. Tap on it to enable view once mode and you'll see a notification pop up confirming the selection.
Once you send the message, it will not be accessible to you anymore. It will appear as a small text saying "Voice".
Besides this new voice messaging option, WhatsApp is also testing a new feature where you can filter out message reactions by contacts in channels on its app. It may be useful in situations where users might only want to know how their contacts react while filtering out others.
It is also introducing a new submenu to switch between video and audio messages to avoid unintentional switching on tap. Earlier this week, WhatsApp rolled out a chat locking shortcut to quickly lock chats for Android users. To get quicker access to these new features, make sure you are on the latest test builds of the app for your platform.
