The Windows 8 Consumer Preview version includes the Windows Store feature to download Metro-based apps. That includes, of course, games. A number of game tiles such as Pinball FX 2 were released when the Consumer Preview was first made available for download on February 29.
Now Microsoft has added a new game for Windows 8 users to try out. It's a preview version of Hydro Thunder Hurricane, an arcade action-racing game that was first released by Microsoft as an Xbox Live Arcade game for the Xbox 360 console in 2010. That game, in turn, was a sequel to Hydro Thunder, released in 1999 by Midway originally for the Sega Dreamcast console.
The preview version contains two tracks and two boats to race on the water. It also has some other features such as "interactive triggers, insane jumps, and secret shortcuts waiting to be discovered." The app listing claims that a full version of Hydro Thunder Hurricane will be released later. That game will have 11 tracks and 11 boats to race, along with a number of single player modes.
If you own Windows 8, you may not be able to see Hydro Thunder Hurricane in the Windows Store yet. McAtkins Online says that you can still find it by opening the store feature, then using Windows 8's Charm bar to search for Hydro Thunder.
