With the launch of the public preview version of Windows 8.1 today, Microsoft is wasting no time in hyping the first major upgrade for Windows 8 with a new video. The clip that went live on YouTube today has a lot of loud music and colorful images but it also manages to show off some of Windows 8.1
The video showcases the changes to the Start screen, including highlighting its larger and smaller Live Tiles, the deeper customization features, the "apps only" list and the more improved search features. It also shows off the new "snap view" modes for the Modern Windows 8 apps that will allow users to run more than just two apps at one time.
The video also shows the redesign of the Windows Store for the Windows 8.1 upgrade and, yes, the Start button is showcased at the bottom. While there is nothing new that was revealed in the video, it definitely offers up a very fast overview of what Windows 8.1 has in store. The final RTM version of the upgrade should be released to the public later this year.
Microsoft has also released a PDF document that serves as a product guide for the Windows 8.1 preview version for those of you who want to learn a lot more about the upgrade.
