When Lionhead Studios released Fable to the Xbox community last year, it was welcomed with open arms by both the review and general gaming communities. This is possibly due to the dearth of RPG's on the system, but all in all it was generally well received. The only major gripe from players was the length of the gaming falling well short of the initially announced 40 hours of gameplay to less than 20.
This was going to change when Lionhead announced in March that it would be bringing its hit Xbox quest to the PC with all excluded content still intact. While owners of the Xbox version were understandably displeased, it was announced yesterday that Microsoft Game Studios will be making amends by releasing a Platinum Hits version of Fable on Xbox with all extra content for $19.99. The extra content amounts to nine new regions to explore, 16 new quests, and a host of new weapons, spells, and items.
Fable: The Lost Chapters for PC is due in September, with the updated Xbox version slated for Q4 2005.
