Xiaomi has unveiled a new smartphone series in China today, built using the same manufacturing process for the Mi 9. The Mi CC9 series comprises the standard model, Mi CC9e, and Mi CC9 Meitu Edition.
The Mi CC9 is especially geared toward mobile photography. On the front sits a 32MP selfie snapper that the company claims can take decent photos in low light condition by combining four pixels to form large 1.6μm pixels.
Round the back, the phone has a triple AI camera setup that consists of a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 2MP depth sensor. Xiaomi says the phone's camera is capable of detecting different scenes when shooting, so it can automatically switch on the ultra-wide mode on when you're taking photos of a landscape, for example.
The Mi CC9 has the same 6.39-inch FHD+ AMOLED display as the Mi 9, with a waterdrop notch. As a mid-range handset, it's powered by a Snapdragon 710 SoC and packs a 4,030mAh battery. It features the Game Turbo 2.0 for optimized performance during gaming.
It includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and has Xiaomi's logo on its back. The phone's back panel has a multi-color LED light that serves as a notification light and produces different light effects during a mobile game session. It also pulsates when you're listening to music.
The Mi CC9e is the smaller version sporting a 6.088-inch display. The rest of its specs and features are the same as the standard model, except for its chipset as it is powered by a Snapdragon 665 SoC. In addition, the Mi CC9 Meitu Edition packs the same internals as the Mi CC9. But what makes it stand out is its design, which resembles that of the Huawei P30 series' Breathing Crystal color variant.
The Mi CC9 and Mi CC9 Meitu Edition are available for pre-orders from today, before they officially go on sale on July 5 via Xiaomi's channels in China. The Mi CC9 will retail for ¥1,799 (~$260) for the 6GB/64GB configuration and ¥1,999 (~$290) for the 6GB/128GB variant. The Mi CC9 Meitu Edition with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage is priced at ¥2,599 (~$378). Meanwhile, the Mi CC9e will be available to buy from July 9 for ¥1,299 (~$189), ¥1,399 (~$203), and ¥1,599 (~$232) for the 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB configurations, respectively.
