You can now write and draw in Microsoft Office documents with your fingers on your iPhone

Microsoft has delivered its latest updates to Office for iOS, bringing new capabilities to the productivity suite. The most significant addition is the ability to write, draw and highlight in documents on iPhones using your fingers.

The company introduced finger-based annotations for Office on its own mobile devices back in June, with Office Insider Preview build 17.7070 for Windows 10 phones and tablets.

Its latest update to Office for iOS bumps the version number up to 1.24. Here's the full changelog:

PowerPoint

  • Use the Find icon on the ribbon to search for any text in your presentation.
  • Use your finger to write, draw and highlight with the tools in the new Draw tab (iPhone only).
  • Enjoy even more flexibility for storing and accessing your presentations with Citrix.

Excel

  • Use your finger to write, draw and highlight with the tools in the new Draw tab (iPhone only).
  • Enjoy even more flexibility for storing and accessing your spreadsheets with Citrix.

Word

  • Use your finger to write, draw and highlight with the tools in the new Draw tab (iPhone only).
  • Enjoy even more flexibility for storing and accessing your documents with Citrix.

Over on Android, Microsoft released a new version of OneDrive last week, allowing users to preview Office documents without having to open the separate Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps to do so.
