Announced at CES this year, the Lenovo Legion Y540 isn't all that different from the Y530. It comes in the same plastic chassis, as opposed to the aluminum build of the Legion Y740.
The Y540 is the entry-level gaming laptop from Lenovo, so you're giving up some of the bells and whistles like RGB lighting. It's still a powerful rig though, packing an Intel Core i7-9750H CPU, a 45W hexa-core chip with 12 threads. For graphics, I got Nvidia's new GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, although you can get it with up to an RTX 2060.
It uses Lenovo's new industrial design, not meant to be as flashy as other gaming laptops. Most of the ports are in the back of the machine, for better cable management, although there are USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports on either side for plugging in peripherals on the fly. The machine promises better cooling, with dual fans in the rear corners with 70 blades on each one.
