Last week, Logitech announced the BRIO, a new webcam that does pretty much everything that you want your webcam to do. It supports 4K, HDR, 1080p60, and even Windows Hello facial recognition.
The company was kind enough to send us one of its new units, which retails for $199 in the US, £199 in the UK, and €239 elsewhere in Europe. So far, I'm pretty impressed with it.
All of the core functionality is plug and play, meaning that everything just works when you plug the peripheral into your PC. The first device that I'll be testing it with is the Surface Pro 3, and immediately after attaching it, Windows Hello settings were activated on the machine, and 1080p60 and 4K video options were offered in Windows Camera.
There is additional software that users can download though. This app allows users to change camera settings, such as how wide of an angle shot it's meant to take, white balance, contrast, brightness, color intensity, and more. All of these settings will be reflected in any app that you use the camera in.
It really does seem to be a wonderful little device, and at $199, it's not too expensive, especially if your PC doesn't natively support facial recognition. Check out our unboxing and hands on video:
