Sony released 10 new shots of Gran Turismo 5 tonight, featuring the concept Toyota RT-86. Find them below

Earlier this morning, an earlier batch of screens were released, along with a trailer of the Toyota RT-86.

As amazing as the game may look, however, Kazunori Yamauchi of Polyphony said earlier that the game is 90 percent finished.

Which may be the reason why the game was delayed in Japan yesterday.

SCEE's said that a European date will be announced "in due course."

On Tuesday, Sony said that the game's Time Trial demo, which was released last month, reached over 1 million downloads in Europe.

Here's some of the first news to come out of the Tokyo Auto Salon 2010: Polyphony Digital has partnered with auto technology company Denso to develop a "GPS-track day unit", one of which will be included in the new Toyota FT-86G. It works by monitoring your position as you put in hot laps around a real-world track (which is also in GT5, of course). Pull the memory card out of your car and plug it into your PS3, and the data collected will be used to reconstruct your lap within the game. From there, you'll be able to watch your replay or compete against yourself by loading the replay as a "ghost" car. According to MotorTrend, Polyphony and Denso's GPS unit was tested in a race-spec Lexus IS-F at the Nurburgring last October (probably during Yamauchi's VLN race). MotorTrend editor Peter Lyon was also able to confirm that a "3D version" of GT5 will be available "as soon as 3D TVs become available on the market," (Sony's 3D TVs will be available this summer).

Thanks to Snaeper for sending this in!

Here's some quite literal "screen shots" of the Gran Turismo 5 demo at the European Motor Show 2010 in Brussels, taken by our own Vince_Fiero. He's taken the novel approach of focusing on in-car game play shots, providing us with a look inside cars we have not yet seen.

Here's a closer look at GT5's "Data Logger Visualization" feature that was just announced at last weekend's Tokyo Auto Salon, complete with video of a Lexus IS-F outfitted with the necessary gadgets doing a lap around Fuji.

Toyota Motor Corporation and "Gran Turismo" on January 15, was held at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, "Tokyo Auto Salon 2010 with NAPAC" vehicle information and announced a collaboration on a new site using GPS coordinates. This collaboration is used to control the real world automotive vehicle CAN (Controller Area Network) using the GPS information and location information, "Gran Turismo" in real time to visualize what that is driving the vehicle.

CAN export to USB memory location information and that information, "Gran Turismo" and loaded into a simulation engine, "Gran Turismo" was visualizes as a video replay, you can also play as a ghost, help you analyze your driving or you can.

CAN has the right to information about G Force and handle and brake, accelerator operations, and includes rotational speed of each wheel and engine speed, allowing a highly accurate reproduction of the combination of vehicle and location information .

Venue with the Toyota booth at the stage of the vehicle to the 2009 Super GT Fuji Speedway was the American champion Juichi Wakisaka IS F data actually ran in "Gran Turismo" on reproduction. And the actual practice of "Gran Turismo" By comparison with on-screen video reproduction has demonstrated the high accuracy.

Please expect us in the new efforts of both companies.

That last video is awesome (Y) This game will be HUGE.

It's scary how accurate the GPS/Data logging is...

Just goes to show how well mapped out the tracks are in terms of taking them from real life and putting them in the game.

This level of detail is simply mindblowing, no doubt about it. But I wonder, really, what percentage of customers will really give a damn? Sure, it's nice to be able to say that it is so close to realism, but is it worth it? Do the majority of GT5 players want or need this?

Only 90% finished, and recently delayed. I wonder how much in part this is due to PD devs being so anally obsesive about every detail? The difficulty I see is knowing where to draw the line and say "enough, this game is done."

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to this game as much as anyone else, but I'd take the game as it is now, and accept that there will be future add-ons and upgrades which will add new "features" like this and that motion tracking stuff that was mentioned a few weeks ago.

That god-awful tire squeal is still in there though.

Two awesome videos here.

First is a compliation of trailer excerts from GT5 so far, car fan jizzathon, 2nd is gameplay from a fairly recent game show.

Okay got link to first on youtube

No kidding, this stuff is completely useless

For as much as you want to say it's useless I think you're forgetting how big the GT/PD brand is.

Over the past decade, they have:

- made custom demos for auto shows for Nissan, Toyota, Lotus, BMW, etc.

- designed various liveries for racing teams

- developed multiple wings and other aerodynamic parts for NISMO

- developed a board computer for Nissan

- hosted their own awards show Gran Turismo Awards

- worked with Citro?n on the design of a complete car

- been invited to judge the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

etc.

- host GT Academy which produces a real semi-pro race driver at the end of it

Stuff like that is what separates them from all the other devs out there.

Now can you just imagine a 1:1 Top Gear Test track where the stig can race round it with his "memory" stick plugged into the car, then plug it into the PS3 where it will 1:1 reproduce it on the games Top Gear Test Track and upload the ghost to the web for us users to try and beat? Remember the Top Gear Test Track is in GT5.

That would be a pants wetting deal for fans. Not just the stig, any celebreties as well, but obviously it's only going to GPS/Track certain cars so you might only see the stig do it.

Also in better news, apparently OPM has a hands on with the full final game next month. April WW release, I'm still saying it.

I'm so happy SuperGT is in the game, this car is the sex

The accuracy of the cars look hawt as usual. The attention to detail in the cockpits are untouched. The environments and track detail as usual still lag however.

I hope they plan to improve the sub par physics over the GT5 demo they just released, and work on removing the bumper cars shown in the latest videos though.

Boring tracks have boring environments

Physics in the GT Academy Trial were on professional and even Sethos of all people commended them :p As for bumper cars, we know damage both physical and engine/car wise are coming, that'll put an end to bumper cars.

I never said anything about boring environments. I was talking about their LACK of detail.

I am aware of the demo physics status set to professional, I participating in it. The physics still need work.

A boring track WOULD have lack of detail. Which is why I posted a video for you with lots of trees/shadows/skyscrapers/billboards/signs/lampposts and other buildings.

Proper track cracks(and feedback), their over "glossified" tracks, their rustoleum spray on grass, etc. I am not talking about signs, trees, skyscrapers. I am talking about detail to the existing environment. I know tracks are normally "boring". I have raced at Road America enough times to know that.

Well one thing I cannot help but notice is in that data video, when they compare real to the game, real is really bumpy, and the game is not that bumpy. Why not make the game more bumpy so then it is really as close to reality as possible? I know that could maybe get annoying from a playing perspective, but that is the one detail that sticks out to me from keeping it from being absolutely realistic as could be.

Also Thread Cleaned.

Let's keep in mind not everyone who visits these threads is a regular member, so they very well may not know who is kidding and who is not kidding, so keep that in mind please in the future.

Fair enough all those even smaller touches would be nice but with all that's going into the game do you want people complaining it's taking even longer to add realistic road cracks? :p

They have improved that over Prologue, the cars do bump up and down now, but it's like headbob in some games, how annoying can that get?

Think there's gotta be a balance, at least the cars aren't static like Prologue anymore they do bump up and down just not to the extremes of real life. In real life you get force feedback from your bumps which gives you an adrenaline rush, in a game it's just pixels jumping up and down on a screen which is why I think more people would get annoyed with that sort of feedback than enjoy it - All they need to do is simulate dashboard movement enough IMO to represent the roads.

Obviously I expect it to be a bit more heavy in the WRC portions, as that's off road.

That is one of physics issues I have with this game as well. I think they over feedback as far as cracks/bumps in NFS Shift, but Race Pro 09 nailed it (and the physics).

Well, I guess is not surprising the user with Forza as their avatar (not the BLUE thing) is the one trying to slag off at GT. Of course it may be purely coincidence from a lover of motorsport, somehow I doubt there isn't ulterior motives.

Hey let him have his cracks in the road, I actually think the enviroments look pretty good in GT5 but then again I don't plan on sight seeing in the game, I'll be too busy racing with the other 15 cars most of the time ;)

As a lover of GT4, GT5p and GT5 Academy, that can't be me you speak of. I am a huge GT fan. I am (and have always) clamoring for better physics and track detail. Kinda like my never ending complaints about the poor car models in Forza, the cartoon cockpit views, and the lack of a real pit option since Forza 1.

I am always busy racing with 7, 11 or 15 other cars in all my racing games!

My avatars always change. Sometimes it's GT, sometimes it's Race Pro, etc. Sometimes, it's...women...hot women. w00t.gif
