Samsung is set to hold its next Galaxy Unpacked two weeks from now, but this early, the company has shared quite a few interesting bits about what it plans to unveil at the event. The company has confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold3 is adding support for the S Pen as it no longer plans to introduce a new Galaxy Note device this year.
In a blog post, TM Roh, President & Head of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, wrote that no new Note is coming to the market after last year's Note20 series. The announcement doesn't come as a surprise, though, after previous rumors suggested the South Korean tech giant would drop the Note21 devices in 2021.
There were clear signs that the Note series was going away ever since the Galaxy S21 Ultra debuted earlier this year with support for S Pen. The device was then billed as the "ultimate smartphone experience." However, it does not have a dedicated slot to house the S Pen, unlike the Note lineup. Instead, the accessory can be purchased as a standalone product or as part of a protective case for the S21 Ultra.
Roh also revealed that Samsung will expand "beloved Note features to more Samsung Galaxy devices", although it's not clear what these other capabilities are. He also said the company is bringing more apps that make use of the Z Fold3's large folding display in collaboration with more partners such as Google and Microsoft. Roh also confirmed that Samsung is working with Google alongside other developers to build more apps for its next-generation wearable devices.
